Caddis, Caddis, Caddis

Happy Spring! Here’s the latest river update:

Soho is back to pulsing instead of sluicing, and the caddis hatch is in full swing on the Watauga—now’s the time to get out there. Bugs are showing up around 9 a.m., depending on sun and temperature, and stay thick through the evening. Some fish are taking on top, but we’ve had the best luck in fast currents where they have less time to inspect. Splashy rises mean they’re eating bugs on the way up—try swinging a wet fly or hanging an emerging caddis off a dry.

WNC delayed harvest and hatchery-supported waters are open and producing big numbers, with some 50+ fish days.

Georgia private water trips are bringing in hefty rainbows, plus some browns and palominos, paired with grilled steak shore lunches that rival the best fishing experiences anywhere.

Smallmouth bass trips are also producing great catches. Book now to lock in a trip this year—828-318-4065.
