Meet the Beast

Charles Humphrey III, founder of Beast Coast Anglers LLC, discovered fly fishing as a teenager and has been chasing trout ever since. After moving to Asheville, North Carolina, in 1999, he found his home on the legendary rivers and streams of Western North Carolina and East Tennessee, where he has spent decades exploring, learning, and sharing his passion with others.

Charles guides from a Boulder Boat Works Drifter and trusts Douglas and Orvis rods paired with Hatch and Orvis reels. His fly fishing adventures have taken him across North America and Canada, giving him a broad perspective while remaining deeply rooted in the fisheries of Southern Appalachia.

Beyond the river, Charles is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer, a finisher of the Western States 100 Endurance Run, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, a touring musician with Asheville's acclaimed bluegrass band Songs From The Road Band, and most importantly, a proud husband and father.

Whether he's standing on stage or knee-deep in a mountain stream, Charles believes the greatest experiences come from genuine connection. His two lifelong passions are sharing the joy of music and introducing others to the unforgettable experience of fly fishing.

Beast Coast Anglers LLC is fully licensed and insured. Every guide is CPR and First Aid certified, and Beast Coast Anglers is an officially permitted guide service for Pisgah National Forest. When you book with Beast Coast Anglers, you're not just hiring a guide, you're fishing with the BEAST!
